POSITION TITLE: Teacher Coach STATUS: Exempt, FT GRADE: 4 SALARY: $47K-$50K/yr

SUMMARY:
Support in offering high-quality early education and child development including children with disabilities that promote children’s cognitive, social, and emotional growth for later success in school. Additional support with teachers in planning, organizing, and implementation of education best practices and services for children in the Early Head Start Program.
COLLABORATES WITH:
Early Childhood Team, Head Start Team, Early Head Start Team, YWCA Quality Team, Center Director, Center Staff, Child Care Resource and Referral Training Team
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
q Works with classroom teacher in support of providing age appropriate activities for children that are aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcome Framework (HSELOF).
q Conduct regular teacher observations utilizing a research-based coaching model to implement best teaching practices in the classroom.
q Integrate a plan for ongoing professional development for teachers that supports Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) and HSELOF.
q Offers Technical Assistance for the COPA Database, Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG), as well as other education related programs.
q Working knowledge of developmental screening tools ASQ and ASQ/SE.
q Coordinates Training and Technical Assistance efforts with the Child Care Resource and Referrals Quality Team.
q Supports and models nurturing and responsive practices, interactions, and environments that foster trust and emotional security.
q Assists with the direct planning of organized activities, schedules, and lesson plans including DAP in language, literacy, social and emotional development, math, science, social studies, creative arts, and physical development using Creative Curriculum.
q Assist in the development of dual language acquisition.
q Assist in teacher-directed and child-initiated activities, active and quiet learning activities, large and small group activities.
q Coach best practices with structured assessments to evaluate each child’s progress using Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG).
q Works closely with disabilities/mental health specialist to ensure inclusive services are provided to meet the needs of all children.
q Works with partner childcare providers and staff to establish plans and procedures to ensure the safety and security of children.
q Utilizes daily active supervision to ensure each site/program is compliant with all relevant licensing and Early Head Start Requirements.
q Maintains a strong understanding of Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Curriculum and ExceleRate Illinois.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND MEETINGS:
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Assist with planning YWCA special programs and events. Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned, whether for a project, special needs task, or other assignment. Alignment with YWCA on the key deliverables. Establish and meet deadlines. Must become an ITN trainer within one year of employment with agency.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bilingual Spanish Language an Asset, Meet Department of Children and Family Services Requirements for Licensure, Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited institution.
CERTIFICATION(s) REQUIRED:
Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Candidate will have the ability to lift thirty-five (35) pounds, be able to sit on floor, bend at waist, kneel and/or stoop 75% of the time.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday, occasional Saturdays. Schedule can vary depending on the needs of the agency.
