Empowerment Coach

COMPELLING OPPORTUNITY FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO FULFILL ON THEIR PURPOSE, MAKE A MEANINGFUL DIFFERENCE FOR OTHERS, AND ADVANCE THEIR CAREER!  YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking an EMPOWERMENT COACH, based at our Parks-Francis Center, located at 6600 S. Cottage Grove in Chicago, IL. This is a contractual position reporting to the Director of Economic Empowerment; compensation is commensurate with experience.


  • Assist clients in creating and implementing career empowerment plans that incorporate coaching tools in the assessments of motivators, strengths, competencies, job readiness needs, potential challenges, community support, etc.
  • Maintain Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) online case management records, client enrollment registration, and monthly case notes for enrolled clients.
  • Establish specific, measurable, attainable plan results and a timeline for their achievement.
  • Identify strategic solutions and develop action plans to fill in the gaps between the plan objectives and current capacities.
  • Produce monthly reports that document all direct service activities and outcomes.
  • Facilitate trainings, assist with general assessments, and actively supporting the employment development needs of youth enrolled 


  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (human services, vocational counseling, sociology, social services, psychology, etc.) or equivalent training and experience required
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in vocational coaching/case management or related field.  
  • Prior experience working with Out of School Youth between 18 – 21 years of age strongly preferred 
  • Keen project planning and organizing skills, with an ability to support people being accountable for results
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; bilingual abilities a plus
  • Commitment to economic development of underserved communities 
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with cultural competence for working with economically, ethnically, and culturally diverse populations
  • Ability to travel within the Chicagoland area as needed
