Family Advocate Supervisor

Department: Early Childhood Services
Location: Addison, IL

COMPELLING OPPORTUNITY FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO FULFILL ON THEIR PURPOSE, MAKE A MEANINGFUL DIFFERENCE FOR OTHERS, AND ADVANCE THEIR CAREER! The YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago, a 21st Century, business-savvy, social enterprise committed to “Eliminating Racism and Empowering Women,” is seeking an EARLY HEAD START FAMILY ADVOCATE SUPERVISOR. This is a full time, exempt position, reporting directly to the Early Head Start Director in Addison.

Overall Purpose: Plan, organize and implement the Family and Community Partnership service area under the general direction of the Early Head Start Director.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of EHS policies and procedures, changes and federal and state regulations
  • Work with family advocates to ensure ongoing recruitment and enrollment of children
  • Work with Family Advocates to develop and implement individualized Family Partnership agreements with parents
  • Act as a community liaison for the agency 
  • Coordinate and monitors services performed by the Family Support Specialists to ensure the areas of eligibility, recruitment, selection, attendance and family and community engagement
  • Monitor ongoing reports of data and ensure accuracy
  • Meet requirements of the Head Start performance standards
  • Coordinate efforts with other program leaders to ensure the needs of all families are coordinated and met

 Key Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, social welfare, public administration, or one of the social sciences
  • Fluent in written and spoken English required; Bilingual in written and spoken Spanish preferred
  • Experience in human services program management, including program planning, operations & evaluation, and the use of management information systems
  • Ability to pass a health examination and a criminal background check
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, while prioritizing and managing multiple assignments simultaneously as needed 
  • Ability to travel locally and to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from various education, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds
