SALARY: $90,000-$95,000
SUMMARY: The Senior Director, Education and Partnerships is responsible for leading and managing violence prevention education, community mobilization and capacity-building initiatives. Oversee all components of program operations and engage in cross-functional collaboration to promote synergy across YWCA programs through trauma-informed practices. ---
COLLABORATES WITH: Actively collaborates with YWCA Executive Leadership, Safety and Wellness Leadership, community influencers and other stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Leads and manages violence prevention initiatives, with a focus on sexual violence prevention, community mobilization and coalition building. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of program operations and collaborating across departments, divisions and with external partners to facilitate integration of trauma-informed practices and primary prevention approaches.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT:
Program Operations: Responsible for development and implementation of program goals and performance outcomes, program operations inclusive of policies and procedures, contract and staff compliance, and consistently high-performance service delivery; Integrates program, financial and organizational data to evaluate program performance and stability; Communicate and implement division and organization policies and procedures; Interface regularly with division and program leadership teams to assess strategic direction, execution and resource utilization; Ensure understanding Education & Training "industry landscape,” with continual application of trend awareness and innovations; Ensure required records and statistics are maintained according to funder requirements, YWCA guidelines, and legal requirements.
Education and Community Mobilization: Develop and implement strategies to make violence prevention education and mobilization core organizational strengths; Develop and deliver content that educates, engages, entertains and empowers diverse audiences; Lead community training initiatives using a fee-based model; Integrates online and in-person strategies for public engagement; Lead community mobilization strategy to activate diverse stakeholders in violence prevention efforts; Create awareness within target communities about violence prevention programs/services and other YWCA programs/services; Perform designated public speaking engagements and media relations; Serve on city, county or state-wide committees/coalitions to leverage resources, share knowledge, reach broader audiences and co-create strategies that promote primary prevention and positive norms.
Talent Management & Development: Responsible for ensuring recruitment, onboarding, coaching, professional development, evaluation and retention of highly qualified staff, interns and volunteers; Instill a sense of accountability among team members, by modeling effective oversight of program performance standards.
Fiscal Responsibility and Resource Development: Co-create and manage program budgets with Division Leaders specifically tracking revenue, expenses and contract deliverables to ensure fiscal and program stability and productivity. Collaborate with Finance to minimize budget deficits; Collaborate with Development staff to explore and prepare potential funding opportunities; Foster stewardship by assisting with stakeholder recognition, site tours, etc.
Professional Development: Complete ongoing continuing education and training as required by YWCA and funders. Builds and maintains working knowledge of CDC Rape Prevention Education guidelines, Civil Rights Act of 1964 Title IX, SAFE Act, and IL Student Online Personal Protection Act; Maintain and expand knowledge of trends and important advances in violence prevention, education/training and community mobilization.
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides crisis response and victim advocacy, as needed.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned, whether for a project, special needs task or other assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional Training Required: Completion of forty-hour sexual assault crisis intervention training within ninety days of the employment date (if not previously completed with the two years prior to YWCA employment); Complete ongoing continuing education and training requirements set by YWCA and funders.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in education/educational leadership, Social Work, Public Health or related field with four years of progressive supervisory experience required.
Minimum of two years’ experience managing government contracts, private grants, fees and deliverable-based programs.
Previous experience in gender-based violence/community violence, prevention initiatives, community mobilization/organizing or racial/social justice issues is required.
Experience communicating, and effectively interacting with people across cultures, abilities, identities, genders, ethnicities and race.
Strong speaking, writing, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated experience with performance measurement across multiple platforms. Intermediate level of competence in MS Office, Outlook and databases.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment includes shared office spaces and sites where children and adults are present. The noise level is usually moderate. Movement requirements include walking, stooping, or kneeling. There may be a need to reach or lift objects, such as packages or supplies. Communication needs include seeing, hearing, and speaking. While in the office, there will be periods of sitting, holding a telephone and using computers. Senior Director, Education and Partnerships must have access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout the Chicago metropolitan area and statewide. Requires regular travel to YWCA locations in Chicago, DuPage County, South Cook County and Lake County. Knowledge of the metropolitan Chicago area and community organizations is highly preferred. WORK SCHEDULE: Schedule is typically Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM-4:30 PM CST, although schedule can vary, e.g., evenings, weekends and holidays depending on the needs of the agency.
